Japanese automaker aims to launch vehicles with Level 3 autonomy by 2020, and Level 4 five years later

Honda plans to utilize its proprietary ‘detection systems’ to develop a technology that will enable its autonomous driving vehicles to predict pedestrian behavior on roads, the Japan Automotive Daily reported earlier this month. The company intends to develop a pedestrian behavior detection system that will help its autonomous vehicles manoeuvre in complex driving environments such as shopping districts and other crowded areas.
