Honda, Alibaba to jointly develop connected car services

Two companies have been strategic partners since 2015

Honda will partner with China’s Alibaba Group to develop connected car service for the Chinese automotive market, Nikkei reported on Tuesday (2 January). Under the partnership, the Japanese automaker will collaborate with Alibaba’s AutoNavi to develop a service that lets drivers make reservation for services such as parking and fuel using AutoNavi maps and pay online with Chinese e-retail firm’s Alipay platform. Alipay is a popular online payment platform with more than 500 million users.
