Japanese automaker invests USD203 million in new factory

Mazda has opened a new engine machining factory at its powertrain plant in Thailand’s Chonburi province, the Japanese automaker said in a press release earlier this month. The company invested JPY22.1 billion (USD203.2 million as on 31 January 2018) to establish the machining factory at the plant, which is operated by Mazda Powertrain Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (MPMT). The establishment of the new factory has helped MMPT to ramp up engine production capacity to 100,000 units per annum (upa) compared with 30,000 upa earlier.
