Uber agrees to pay Waymo USD245 million in equity to settle trade secret dispute
Waymo gets 0.34% stake in the US-based ride-sharing company
Uber has agreed to pay USD245 million worth of its own shares to Waymo to settle a legal dispute over trade secrets, Reuters reported last week. As part of the out-of-the-court settlement, Alphabet’s self-driving unit gets 0.34% stake in the US-based ride-sharing company, based on its current valuation of USD72 billion. The settlement also includes an assurance from Uber that Waymo’s confidential information is not incorporated in the self-driving technology that the ride-sharing company is developing in-house.
