Alphabet’s self-driving unit to launch self-driving ride service in Phoenix this year

Last month, Waymo received a permit from the Arizona Department of Transportation in the United States to operate as a Transportation Network Company, Quartz reported on 17 February citing Ryan Harding, a spokesman at the state agency. With this, Alphabet’s self-driving unit has become the first company to receive approval to operate commercial ride-hailing service without human drivers in the United States.
