California DMV begins accepting applications for testing fully autonomous vehicles on public roads
Regulator approved testing of self-driving cars without a safety driver behind the wheel in February this year
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has begun accepting applications for testing fully autonomous vehicles on the state’s public roads. The transportation regulator has outlined the requirements necessary to secure permit for testing such vehicles, including proper security to resist cyber-attack, two-way communication equipment and that such vehicle should not be able to be operated autonomously outside certain designated areas and conditions.
