Electric vehicles: The impact of materials and lightweighting on their mass-scale adoption
Helping Electric Vehicles become more efficient and affordable
Electric vehicles (EVs) have been experiencing increasing sales on a considerable basis in the last four to five years. Their sales, as part of the global car sales, may not be that significant (slightly higher than 1.5% of the global car sales for 2017), but the year-on-year increase is so impressive that they are expected to disrupt the traditional internal combustion engines (ICEs) in a big way very soon. Add to this the increasing pressure on automotive OEMs to have cleaner carbon footprints and provide smarter vehicle systems integrated to the latest software and advanced driving assistance systems, and one can easily understand why automotive OEMs are heavily investing into their battery-powered vehicles portfolio.
