Company designed Lidar sensor design and expanded Ohio facility to increase production

Luminar plans to ramp up production of next-generation Lidar sensing platform to 5,000 units a quarter by end of this year, Automotive News reported on 12 April citing Austin Russel, CEO of the company. That, according to Russel, would be enough to equip every autonomous test vehicle now in operation. “The focus here is all about scale. We've got production time down from a whole day to just eight minutes for build time per unit,” Russel told Automotive News in an interview.
