Nissan, DeNA plan to roll out self-driving taxis by early 2020s
Two companies jointly conducted trials of Easy Ride self-driving taxis in Japan last month
Nissan is accelerating collaboration with Japanese mobile gaming and communication company DeNA to commercially launch self-driving taxis in early 2020s, Automotive News repowered on 14 April. Last month, the two companies jointly conducted field testing of self-driving taxis, called Easy Ride, in Japan, with some 300 participants. The test vehicles, based on Nissan LEAF electric car, travelled about two miles on a pre-set city route from Nissan’s headquarters in Yokohama to a nearby facility.
