Company seeks incentives from Indian government on local assembly of electrified vehicles
Volvo Cars India is considering producing hybrid vehicles in India, The Economic Times (ET) reported on 19 April citing Charles Frump, managing director of Volvo Cars India. The Swedish carmaker expects India to be among the key markets that will help it achieve the target of selling 1 million electrified vehicles (EV) globally by 2025. The company plans to electrify most of its product in the Indian market by 2020, which is in line with its global transition plans.
