Volvo Trucks showcases new all-electric truck 'FE Electric'
FE Electric is Volvo’s Ssecond new electric truck model in less than a month
Volvo Trucks has unveiled a new all-electric truck ‘FE Electric’, designed mainly for distribution, refuse collection, and other applications in urban conditions, with gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 27 tonnes, the Sweden-based truck maker said in a press release on 8 May. The new electric truck gets a driveline featuring two electric motors capable of delivering maximum power of 370 kW and maximum torque of 850 Nm. The FE Electric truck is equipped with 200-300kWh lithium-ion batteries, which gives the truck range of up to 200 kilometers (kmKM). Volvo Trucks is offering two charging options: CCS2 with charger power of 150kW DC, and capable of fully charging batteries in 1– to-2 hours; and low power charging with charge power of 22kW AC, which takes up to 10 hours to charge. Volvo will start selling the new electric truck in Europe in 2019.
