German carmaker had initially recalled 36,000 vehicles last year for the same fault

BMW will recall 312,000 vehicles in the United Kingdom to fix an electrical fault that can cause the vehicles to completely lose power, Autocar reported on 9 May. The recall affects BMW’s 1 Series, 3 Series, Z4 and X1 petrol and diesel models, manufactured between March 2007 and September 2011. In affected vehicles, a particular wiring configuration design could potentially cause frictional corrosion on the plug of the power distributor. The fault would shut down all lighting systems including the hazard warning lights, brake lights and headlights.
