Uber closes self-driving testing in US state Arizona
Company plans to resume testing in Pittsburg, San Francisco and Toronto
Uber has decided to shut down its self-driving testing program in Arizona, United States, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on 23 May. The company’s decision comes three months after one of its test vehicles, a modified Volvo XC90 SUV, met a fatal accident in Phoenix, killing a pedestrian. “We’ve made the tough call to wind down operations in Phoenix,” Eric Meyhofer, head of Advanced Technologies Group at Uber, was quoted as saying in an internal email to staff in Arizona.
