With the advent of technology creating new possibilities for this archaic component, the next phase of evolution is slated to create ‘smart’ instrument panels.

The manufacturing sector globally is on the cusp of another ‘revolution’ driven primarily by technology. The automotive industry, being no different, has been at the receiving end of the technology penetration and we are already witnessing new inroads leading to vehicles of tomorrow. Within the automotive ecosystem it is safe to say that the interior space will transform tremendously when we consider autonomy as the foreseeable future. So much so that the industry is still pondering the extent of changes that will take place inside the cabin once autonomous cars become a reality. However, cabin designers, OEMs, as well as interior component suppliers have already started rendering various cabin concepts by transforming multiple interior components.
