Sumitomo Rubber starts production of truck and bus tires at South African factory

The Ladysmith plant will have capacity to produce 750 tires per day by 2020

Sumitomo Rubber Industries has started production of truck and bus tires at its Ladysmith plant in South Africa, the company said in a press release on 7 August. The Japanese tire-maker invested ZAR970 million (USD72.4 million) for capacity expansion at the plant. Sumitomo Rubber added floor space of around 180,000 square meters to start production of bus and truck tires at the plant. The plant is expected to have production capacity of 750 tires per day by 2020.
