The US State of Arizona has established the Institute for Automated Mobility to facilitate safe deployment of automated vehicles, Intel said in a press release last week. The US-based chipmaker is a founding partner of the new institute, along with the Arizona Department of Transportation (Arizona DOT), the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Arizona Commerce Authority, Arizona State University, the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University. The public-private consortium will focus on liability, regulatory and safety aspects of autonomous vehicles. It will also develop standards and best practices for the industry to follow.
