Ford selects Wind River’s OTA software update technology

Wind River’s ‘Edge Sync’ enables rapid, safe, and secure updates to software and firmware throughout the vehicle life cycle

Ford has selected Wind River’s over-the-air (OTA) technology for offering rapid, safe and secure software updates in its connected vehicles, Wind River said in a press release on 15 October. According to Wind River, its Edge Sync software can deliver differential updates that offers the ability to minimize data update size, transmission time and memory usage for updating vehicle software over the air. This approach, Wind River claims, creates a scope for cost reduction and results in better experience for customers.
