The new laser allows lidar to detect even small and poorly reflecting objects at big distance and take necessary actions, says the German supplier
Osram Opto Semiconductors, a company of Germany-based automotive lighting and electronics supplier Osram, has developed a new laser, SPL DS90A_3, for lidar applications, Osram said in a press release on 12 November. The new laser can be operated at high currents up to 40A and achieves a power output of 125W. The automotive qualified SPL DS90A_3 offers long life and high efficiency. The laser is compact in size to allow for flexible system design within the vehicle.
