Exide attributed growth in the third quarter to higher volumes automotive, motorcycle, UPS and solar battery businesses

India-based battery supplier Exide Industries has reported a marginal improvement in its net profit to INR1.55 billion (USD22.2 million, 31 December 2018) in the third quarter ended 31 December 2018, the company said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The company also recorded 3% year-over-year (y/y) increase in profit before tax to INR2.37 billion. Exide reported higher earnings, driven by 9.4% growth in total sales to INR25 billion.
