Japanese government to regulate software update in vehicles
Transport ministry to submit a bill to revise the Road Transport Vehicle Law as early as next month with an aim to put the revised law into effect in 2020
The Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) wants automakers to take prior permission from the government for making any software updates in vehicles, The Japan News reported on 4 February. The ministry plans to submit a bill to revise the Road Transport Vehicle Law as early as next month with an aim to put the revised law into effect in 2020.
