Smart interior materials for the cars of tomorrow
Materials engineered with one or more properties which can be changed in a controlled fashion will be the key enablers of the smart vehicle interior revolution
Living in the ‘smart’ era, technology has influenced all walks of life. To put things into perspective, objects such as watches, phones and other wearables once considered to be mundane, have undergone the ‘smart’ revolution, helping them to transform both in terms of capabilities and functionality. Similarly, the automotive industry too has been on the receiving end, as it gradually strives towards transforming its ‘ordinary’ vehicles and ecosystem into smart and connected means of mobility. While technology penetration has been well received within the automotive industry thus far, the ‘smart’ era of automotive will only truly arrive once the transformation of core vehicle components is complete.
