Waymo offers lidar sensors to companies outside of self-driving
By selling lidar to other companies, Waymo aims to generate revenue that can be used in further scaling its business
Waymo will start selling its custom-developed lidar sensors called ‘Laser Bear Honeycomb’ to other companies for applications other than in self-driving vehicle, the company said in a blog on Medium on 6 March. The self-driving car subsidiary of Alphabet is initially targeting robotics, security and agricultural technology.
