McLaren ships first prototype carbon fiber chassis from innovation center to production center in UK
McLaren is targeting its all sportscars to have hybrid powertrain by 2024
McLaren Automotive has shipped its first porotype carbon fiber MonoCell, the tube that forms the main structure of its cars, from its innovation center in Yorkshire to production center in Working, Surry (both in the United Kingdom), the company said in a press release on 22 March. The prototype, codenamed ‘PLT-MCTC-01’ (‘Prototype Lightweight Tub, McLaren Composites Technology Centre – 01) will now undergo stringent crash testing.
