Ford, GM, Toyota, SAE form ‘Automated Vehicle Safety Consortium’

Consortium will leverage the expertise of Ford, GM and Toyota as well as future members to establish a set of AV safety guiding principles

Ford, General Motors (GM) and Toyota have teamed up with the SAE International to establish a new consortium that will focus on the safety of autonomous vehicles, SAE said in a press release on 3 April. The Automated Vehicle Safety Consortium (AVSC) will work to promote testing, pre-competitive development and deployment of SAE Level 4 and Level 5 autonomous vehicles.
