Volkswagen to offer next-generation Golf with 48-volt mild hybrid drive
German automaker claims its mild hybrid electric vehicle (mHEV) drive system can save about 0.4 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers
Volkswagen (VW) has confirmed that its eight-generation Golf will be the first model to come equipped with its 48-volt mild hybrid electric vehicle (mHEV) drive system, the company said in a press release on 16 May. The company will initially offer its 48-volt system with the EA211 evo family engines with 1 L and 1.5 L displacements and dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) transmission. Eventually, VW intends to gradually extend this system to its entire fleet.
