Recall affects 137,000 CR-Vs globally

Honda will recall 118,598 units of model year 2019 CR-V crossovers in the United States to replace steering wheel harnesses and Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) cable reels, the company said in a press release on 22 May. According to the Japanese automaker, in affected vehicles, the metal core of the steering wheel may have burrs which can cut into wiring on the steering wheel cable reel sub-harness that connects to certain steering wheel controls and the driver front airbag. This damage could lead to short circuit and overheating of steering wheel control circuits, including the SRS wire harnesses.
