Automotive Functional Safety
Automotive functional safety standards ensuring high level of reliability and fault tolerance
The growing demand for comfortable driving experience, along with a higher degree of safety and efficiency, has resulted in increased complexities and functionalities of ECU-based vehicle design. The technological advancement in automotive electronics has resulted in the integration of close to 100 ECUs powering active safety systems, telematics, passive safety systems, engine management, and infotainment features, among others. Because of the increased dependency on ECUs, --even as consolidation reduces the number of ECUs in favor of more highly integrated system architectures with central domain controllers—functional safety becomes a fundamental requirement in designing automotive systems.
