Tariff waiver for Tesla is for one year On Monday (24 June), the United States Department of Commerce (DOC) approved a request by Tesla to waive 10% tariff on imported aluminum from Japan, reports Reuters citing government documents. The electric carmaker uses the imported aluminum in the production of battery cells at its Gigafactory in Nevada. Tesla was seeking a tariff exclusion for importing 10,000 tons of aluminum annually. The aluminum is produced by Nippon Light Metal.
