Waymo gets permit to transport passengers in self-driving vehicles in California

CUPC allowed transportation companies to provide rides to public in self-driving vehicles in June last year

Waymo has received a permit from the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) to transport passengers in its self-driving vehicles, CUPC said on its website. The state regulator issued Waymo approval to join a test program called 'Autonomous Vehicle Passenger Service Pilot'. The regulatory approval brings the Alphabet group’s subsidiary one step closer to launch self-driving ride-hailing service in California.
