Baidu releases Apollo 5.0 autonomous driving platform

Company also updates Apollo Enterprise with two new features

Baidu has introduced the latest version of its Apollo open-source autonomous driving platform, called Apollo 5.0, during its annual artificial intelligence (AI) developer conference ‘Baidu Create 2019’ in Beijing, China on 4 July. One of the key features of the latest version of Apollo is a new data pipeline service which reduces calibration time for each vehicle from one week to 30 minutes. Other notable features of Apollo 5.0 are Open Space Planner—a new scenario-based planning algorithm which supports new scenarios such as intersection and parking— map verification data tool, prediction evaluators and ‘Dreamland’ simulation web platform for model validation and testing.
