US automaker had recalled 1.46 million Focus and Focus ST in October last year due to same problem

Ford will recall select model year 2012 and 2017 Focus vehicles equipped with 2L GDI engines and 2013-2014 Focus ST equipped with 2 L GTDI engines in North America, the company said in a press release on 9 July. The recalled vehicles were originally part of a previous recall by Ford in October 2018 which affected 1.46 million Ford Focus and Focus ST vehicles. According to Ford, powertrain control module software used to service these vehicles to fix malfunctioning of canister purge valve were incomplete, triggering another recall.
