Toyota to study connected car data to inform road maintenance in Japan’s Akaiwa City

Study will focus on developing a low-cost system for maintenance to offer a case study for the local governments

Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF), a Toyota’s organization, will hold a conference with Japan’s Akaiwa City, the Okayama Prefecture, Okayama University and the local Akaiwa City Police to discuss studying the possibility of using connected car data to inform road maintenance, the Japanese automaker said in a press release on 23 July. The study, scheduled to commence this month, will continue through March 2021. It will collect connected car data and images from vehicle video cameras installed on local government vehicles.
