Synopsys has signed a definitive agreement to acquire QTronic, a Germany-based firm specializing in simulation, test tools and services for automotive software and system development, the US-based company said in a press release on 6 August. QTronic offers tools such as Silver, an electronic control unit (ECU) platform; TestWeaver virtual testing and Functional Mock Up (FMU) software development kit (SDK) as well as services (such as virtualization and test automation) to accelerate development of automotive software. The acquisition, subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to conclude in the fourth quarter of its FY2018/19.
