New BMW 5 Series to get 48 volt mild-hybrid system
This will be the first time mild-hybrid tech is used in the 5 Series
The upcoming 2019 BMW 5 Series will come bundled with mild-hybrid technology when it goes on sale this fall. BMW has been aggressive in expanding their plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) line-up recently, and the powertrain electrification of the new 5 Series is part of this strategy.
