Tesla begins trial production at new Gigafactory in Shanghai
The Chinese factory is about 65% less expensive to build Model 3 than its production facility in the United States
Tesla has commenced trial production of Model 3 electric car at its new Gigafactory Shanghai in China ahead of schedule, the company said in its third quarter earnings report on 23 October. According to Reuters, the US-based electric carmaker has been producing Model 3 at the new plant for the past several weeks. The company plans to sell some of the first cars from the plant to its employees.
