German automotive group is targeting first application case in commercial vehicle sector

Volkswagen Group (VW) has established a new subsidiary, Volkswagen Autonomy GmbH (VWAT GmbH), which will operate as a center of excellence for autonomous driving, the German automaker said in a press release on 28 October. VWAT, with headquarters in Munich and Wolfsburg, will bundle the German automotive group’s activities for the development of self-driving system from SAE Level 4 to bring a self-driving system (SDS) to market. The subsidiary is looking at mobility solutions for people and goods in urban areas to be the first application case for SDS.
