Veoneer selects thermal imaging sensor by FLIR Systems to enhance safety of autonomous vehicles

FLIR’s thermal sensing cameras excel in driving situation where other sensor technologies are challenged, especially in low-visibility and high-contrast conditions such as nighttime, shadow, dusk or sunrise

Veoneer has selected Boson®-based thermal imaging sensor of FLIR Systems for its Level 4 autonomous vehicle production contract with a global automaker, scheduled 2021, FLIR said in a press release on 30 October. The Sweden-based supplier will include multiple thermal sensing cameras from FLIR that provide both narrow and wide field-of-view capabilities to enhance the safety of self-driving vehicles.
