Ride-hailing company currently tests autonomous vehicles on a 50-acre leased site in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood area

Ride-hailing company Uber has purchased nearly 600 acres of land near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States, for USD9.5 million to build a test track for autonomous vehicles, Associated Press (AP) reported on 28 December. Uber acquired the parcel in Findlay Township through an affiliate from a developer, the Imperial Land Corp. Uber’s spokesperson Sarah Abboud confirmed the purchase to the Tribune Review but refrained from sharing further details.
