COVID-19 pandemic: Automakers, suppliers prepare to gradually resume production
Companies are planning to resume limited operations at their plants while following stringent measures to ensure health and safety of their workers
Several automakers and tier-1 suppliers are preparing to gradually resume manufacturing operations at their plants in Europe after extended suspensions for several weeks due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, sources told IHS Markit. On 14 April, Hyundai became the first automaker in central Europe to resume operations at its Nošovice plant in Czech Republic after a three-week outage. The South Korean automaker is currently running two out of three shifts at the plant and is using the down shift for disinfecting operations.
