COVID-19 impact: ACEA seeks two-year delay in introduction of 2022 Euro NCAP protocols
COVID-19 pandemic has affected automakers’ plans to launch new vehicles due to difficulties and postponement to complete homologation testing and certification
The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) has requested the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) for a two-year delay in the planned introduction of 2022 protocols, the ACEA said in a press release last week. The protocol calls automakers in the EU market to equip their new vehicles with new active safety features including automatic emergency braking, automatic emergency steering, pedestrian and cyclist safety, and child presence detection in new vehicles to get higher safety rating.
