The project promotes self-driven public transport service
The German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure officially approved 10.9 million euros funding to KelRide, a project that will introduce an autonomous, on-demand transport service in the Kelheim district, north of Munich. For the first time in Germany, fully automated buses would be available for on-demand booking as a new means of public transportation. The project will also focus on developing a roadmap to enable highly autonomous vehicles to play an important role in real-world transit operations.
