Indian government has on 15 September approved a production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme with an outlay of about USD3.54 billion (INR 260 billion) to encourage domestic manufacturing capabilities of the automobile industry with a focus on futuristic technologies involving electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
