UK to review Newport Wafer Fab takeover by China’s Nexperia
Acquisition assessment of the semiconductor company comes under new powers conferred by National Security and Investment Act
The acquisition of the country's largest semiconductor producer Newport Wafer Fab by Nexperia, a Dutch subsidiary of China's Wingtech Technology, for GBP63 million (USD79 million) last year has prompted a complete national security review by Britain's business secretary, according to a report published by South China Morning Post on 26 May 2022.
