The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimated that 42,915 people died on the US roadways in 2021

Aeluma, Baraja, Ibeo Automotive Systems, and Valeo have joined the Lidar Coalition, which was formed to advocate for policies promoting lidar’s role in enhancing safety on the US roadways and infrastructure, including mitigating the rise in pedestrian fatalities on roadways and for autonomous vehicle operations, according to a press release on 3 October 2022.
