POSCO, LG Chem, Lotte to develop new carbon capture–based steel decarbonization tech
Carbon gases captured from POSCO’s mills will be used to produce methanol for plastic olefin production.
Korean newspaper Aju Daily reported on 6 October that Korean steel manufacturer POSCO was partnering with chemical companies LG Chem and Lotte Chemical to set up an industry-academic joint research center at the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology to conduct a USD18-million carbon capture and utilization (CCU) project.
