Electric vehicle company Rivian has issued software updates for its Rivian R1T pickup and the R1S sport utility vehicle (SUV), a report by Inside EVs read on September 15. The update enables the tweaking of suspension to offer a firmer ride. The software update adds a new option for setting cruising speed while using Highway Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control modes.

Speed Limit mode allows the driver to set the speed to a particular limit for the road and is the new default setting, while the Current Speed mode sets the driving speed to the current vehicle speed.

Significance: Apart from working on ride comfort, the software update also adds a new Screen Clean feature, which can turn off all the displays inside the vehicle while it is being cleaned. Other upgrades include range loss improvement by more than 25% during Sleep mode and when the Gear Guard is disabled. The driver will also receive a notification if there is an issue with a 12V battery.
