Volkswagen's passenger-cars brand spokesperson stated that they do not anticipate "significant" disruptions to production as a result of the Red Sea attacks, according to a report published by Reuters on Jan. 12. This comes in response to Tesla's announcement that production at its German site would experience substantial halts.
The spokesperson mentioned that Volkswagen is actively coordinating with shipping companies and closely monitoring the situation to evaluate its impact on production and market supply. The aim is to minimize any potential effects to the extent possible.
Additionally, the spokesperson mentioned that the majority of major shipping companies started rerouting their ships in December 2023. This proactive measure is designed to ensure the timely delivery of cargo to its destination, albeit with a slight delay.
