MAHLE Powertrain expands Northampton facility for advanced hydrogen testing
Enhancing hydrogen powertrain testing capabilities, MAHLE Powertrain's facility upgrade supports light and heavy-duty engine development, aligning with net-zero mobility goals
MAHLE Powertrain, a specialist engineering subsidiary of the MAHLE Group, is enhancing its Northampton facility to incorporate a unique hydrogen powertrain testing capability. This expansion includes the capacity to accommodate two tube-trailers for hydrogen, featuring rapid switch-over technology to facilitate an uninterrupted hydrogen supply. Additionally, the facility's engine dynamometers have been upgraded to handle up to 900 kW and 4,000 N.m, positioning the center to address the burgeoning demand for hydrogen powertrain development, catering to light- and heavy-duty applications.
