Indian government proposes sound alert system for all EVs from October 2027
MoRTH has specified a deadline of Oct. 1, 2026, for new EV models, and Oct. 1, 2027, for existing EV models to get the AVAS deployed
India's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued a draft notification to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules to require acoustic vehicle alerting systems (AVAS) for new electric vehicles by October 2026.
