Framework aims to reduce reliance on mainland China by enhancing mineral cooperation in defense, automotive, and energy sectors

The United States and Japan have signed a framework agreement to secure the supply of rare earths and critical minerals, aiming to reduce dependence on mainland China's dominant role in the global market. This agreement was signed by US President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi during Trump's visit to Tokyo, which was part of his week-long tour of Asia.
